“I Am Grateful For This Recognition And Honour” – Nigerian singer, Davido Celebrates his OON National Award.
David Adedeji Adeleke (OON), professionally known as Davido, an American-born Nigerian singer, songwriter and record producer who was born in Atlanta, Georgia, United States, and raised in Lagos, Nigeria has come forth to celebrate his OON National Award.
The two highest honours, the Grand Commander in the Order of the Federal Republic and Grand Commander in the Order of the Niger are awarded to the president and vice-president respectively.
The presiding judge in the Supreme Court and the chairman of the Senate are qualitative and ex officio commanders in the Order of the Niger.
Recall that Davido was among the 339 prominent Nigerians listed as recipients of the 2023 national honours by the Ministry of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs on Sunday.
Reacting to the National Honour via his verified Twitter handle, the popular Nigerian singer, Davido on Wednesday 31st of June, 2023, Davido said he was grateful for the recognition by the Nigeria Federal Government.
“Honored to hear the news that I have been conferred with an OON (Officer of the Order of Nigeria) by The Federal Government of Nigeria”. The Timeless crooner wrote on his twitter handle.
“I am grateful for this recognition and honour. It has always been my mission to use my platform to showcase our country – the passion, the resilience, the joy the culture and of course the struggles of our people. I do not take any of this for granted. We have one Nigeria and we will continue to do whatever we must to make it better!”.
